The past few days I’ve been battling a nasty cold, and have been quite stuffed up. I’ve been meaning to make the switch from using toilet paper/kleenex to handkerchiefs for a while now, and felt that this was the perfect opportunity. Handkerchiefs are a far cheaper option, also, it is much more environmentally friendly – I am reusing old t-shirts and giving them a new life, and reusing the handkerchiefs instead of throwing them out (it is always more environmentally friendly to reuse).
I cut up old t-shirts into squares(ish), they are not all perfectly the same size or shape, but that is ok! There was also no scraps left over, and I used all parts of the shirts. I also use these squares of fabric while I am cleaning to wipe down surfaces. When I am done with the handkerchiefs, I just throw them in my laundry basket and wash them with my next load of laundry.
