Happy Earth Day friends! Hope you are doing something outdoors today to enjoy the amazing planet we live on – and I challenge you to pick up 10 pieces of garbage on your travels today.
To celebrate Earth Day, I am hosting a clean up with Our Positive Planet – if you’re around the Halifax Commons, stop by at 10:30 and help us out! We will have extra bags and gloves if you don’t bring your own.
Here are 3 easy ways you can reduce your impact:
- #StopSucking. #stopsucking is a moment around refusing straws. When out at a bar or restaurant ask for your drink with ‘no straw please’! Once you do this enough it will become habit and you won’t even think twice about asking for a drink without a straw.
- Bring your own coffee cup. Since I made the commitment to myself to not get coffee unless I had a reusable mug or could sit down at a coffee shop and drink my coffee there, I have probably saved over 830 coffee cups from the landfill!
- Shop second hand. Making new items (clothes, books, furniture, etc.) has a big impact on the environment – all the resources and energy that go into that new material. Instead of shopping for new items try shopping second hand first!
How are you celebrating Earth Day today?
