We have some very exciting news...we are officially a B Corp!
This process took us two years to achieve and we couldn’t be more proud.
So, what is a B Corp?
Certified B Corporations are for-profit companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
As of 2020, there are almost 4,000 B Corps in 150 industries and 74 countries around the world.
The purpose of the B Corp movement is to act as a driving force in changing the corporate face of business. We will have to reapply every three years in order to maintain our status and we aim to constantly improve our B Corp score moving forward.
What does a Certified B-Corp Business do?
In order to receive certification businesses must meet the following standards: achieve a minimum score of 80 in the B Impact Assessment which measures companies impact on their workers, communities, customers, and environment; publish bi-annual B Impact reports that must be available to the public; and formally alter their Articles of Incorporation to reflect a commitment to sustainability, worker well being and the balance of profit and purpose.
The purpose of the B Corp movement is to act as a driving force in changing the corporate face of business. Often for-profit companies are obliged by their incorporation documents to pursue profit for shareholders as the most important priority. On the other hand nonprofits and charities are often legally restricted in terms of methods of raising capital. B Corps seek to establish a middle ground that solves these issues.

A word from Kate.
I am so proud of achieving this status. Becoming a B Corp has been a goal of mine since the first shop opened and we are thrilled to be recognized along with so many other incredible businesses as a Certified B Corp. This was really important for us because it holds us accountable to the highest standard of environmental, social, and workplace ethics. We wear our certification proudly as a badge of honor.
A huge thank you
to all our team members (past and present) and all of the community members who support us as we continue to grow. We are so proud of the impact we have had on the community so far, and we will work hard to continue to create BIG change.
Cheers to this exciting milestone!
