Our Top Tips for Using Shampoo Bars and Conditioner Bars

What even are shampoo bars and conditioner bars?

Did you know that the top ingredient in most liquid shampoo and conditioner is water? That means a huge portion of your bottle of shampoo/conditioner is actually water! Shampoo and conditioner bars solve that problem, by eliminating the need for water so you’re just purchasing the product!

Benefits of shampoo and conditioner bars

Not only do shampoo and conditioner bars save water, they also save you money! One shampoo or conditioner bar can replace up to 3 bottles of the liquid stuff – talk about money savings! Depending on the brand of liquid shampoo or conditioner you use, you could save as much ast $5!

The Upfront Shampoo and Conditioner bars are also in a small cardboard box, meaning that there is zero plastic used. So for every bar of shampoo or conditioner you buy, you’re helping to save up to 3 plastic bottles out of the waste stream – talk about a double win!

plastic shampoo bottles create a lot of waste. Switch to a zero-waste shampoo bar

3 tips to using shampoo bars and conditioner bars

  • Keep it dry: Just like a bar of soap, if your bar is sitting in water, or staying wet, it will dissolve and get used up very fast! Keep your bar dry in-between uses to make sure it lasts. We love this soap dish to store them on!
  • Rub on your head or hands: There's a few ways to use the bars. You can either lather it in your hands and then rub onto your head or you can rub the bar right onto your head. Find what works best for you!
  • If at first you don’t succeed, try again: it may take your hair some time to adjust to using a shampoo bar. Give yourself some time to adjust, and if you are still finding that that particular bar doesn't work for you, try a different brand!
